Why Junk is Dressed as Nutrition: How the Human Food Industry Hijacked Dog Food

Why Junk is Dressed as Nutrition: How the Human Food Industry Hijacked Dog Food-DOGGY BAG MALAYSIA

Have you ever wondered why so many commercial dog food brands exist — and why they’re packed with fillers, by-products, and vague ingredients? The answer is simple: because the human food industry needed somewhere to dump its leftovers.

Thats right! Big food conglomerates like Nestlé, Mars, and Colgate-Palmolive — the same ones behind your chocolate bars and toothpaste — also dominate the pet food industry. Why? Because the human food supply chain produces tons of leftover parts: fatty trimmings, bones, organs, expired meats, and grain byproducts. Rather than discard them, they’re processed into “meal,” labeled vaguely, and sold as pet food.

As pet food isn’t as tightly regulated as human food, manufacturers use vague terms and clever packaging spousing fake health claims, because most people don’t read the label, or don’t know how to. It’s all reliant on our ignorance as pet owners, to buy without questioning, to keep the cycle going.

In short: It’s cheap to make, easy to store, and legally allowed — but it’s not real food.

In response, pet parents are getting wise to the games the pet food industry has played for decades — the vague labels, the by-products, the cheap fillers dressed up as “premium” food and we are saying ‘No More!’. People are asking more questions, reading labels, and demanding better. And that’s where we come in. At DoggyBag, we’re part of a movement that’s pushing back — refusing to accept the scraps of the human food industry as acceptable nutrition.

We’re fighting back with real, honest meals made for dogs, not for corporate profit. According to a recent survey, over 70% of pet parents now consider their dog’s food quality just as important as their own

The message is clear: we won’t accept junk dressed up as nutrition anymore.

“Once you know better, you can’t go back — and neither should your dog.”

Join the fresh food movement. Your dog deserves more than leftovers.
